Michiko (Mickey) A. Pestovich, 82, passed away suddenly but peacefully on June 06, 2017. Mickey was born March 29, 1935 in Fukuoka Ken, Japan. As a young girl who lost her parents early in life, she learned tremendous strength and determination. She came to the United States as a military bride in the late 1950's. She has been a resident of the Fountain and Colorado Springs area since moving here with her family in 1965 from El Paso, TX., where all 3 of her children were born. She gained her US naturalized citizenship on Feb. 23, 1995.

Michiko spent her 20's and 30's as the greatest stay at home mom. On Sept. 13, 1972, she began her first job at the Broadmoor Golf Club, where she worked for the next 42 years until retirement on Jan. 25,2014, at the age of 78. The time she spent working at the Broadmoor was a highlight in her life. Here, she met many wonderful coworkers who became great friends, some of whom she thought of as family. She acquired many awards during her employment, to include several Employee of the Month awards, an Employee of the Year award, membership into the Pioneer Club, and many other achievement awards that she was delightfully proud of.

Upon retirement, she spent her years doing things she loved and enjoyed. She loved to travel. Family trips included visiting her sons in Washington and New Mexico, visiting Disneyland, Disneyworld, Hawaii, Portland, Seattle, El Paso, Georgia, Cancun, a cruise to The Bahamas, and several trips to her homeland of Japan. Her biggest joy was spending time with her family and she always looked forward to family events and holidays. She loved to cook, and was famous among those who knew her for her egg rolls. She took great pleasure in gardening, and even at 78, was very proud of digging, planting, tending and harvesting everything on her own. She enjoyed shopping trips and lunch, accompanied by her best friend, Annie, and loved seeking out great deals, usually starting her next year's Christmas shopping the day after Christmas. She enjoyed her visits with her circle of Japanese friends, eating her favorite foods and staying in tune with her culture. Her most favorite past time of all, were her trips to Vegas, Cripple Creek, Black Hawk, and an occasional Indian reservation. Her family often joked with her about how fast she could sprint if a slot machine was within her sight.

Mickey is survived by her 3 children which include her two sons, Joe Pestovich (Dianne), John Pestovich (Stacey), and her daughter, Jackie Garrett (Steve Lemon). She had 13 grandchildren, Joe Rash, Michelle Green (Brandon), Rebecca VanAcker (Ryan), Courtney Pestovich, Joe Pestovich, Rachel Lemon, Caela Moore, Connor Pestovich, Kimberly Pestovich, Ciara Moore, Riley Garrett, Shannon Pestovich, and Valerie Pestovich., and she had 5 great grandchildren, Madison, Damien, Jasper, Elijah, and Isaac. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Pestovich, who passed away in 1983.

Our Mother, Grandma, Great Grandma, and friend to all who's path's crossed hers, Mickey will be truly missed, but we celebrate her arrival into Heaven, and have many countless happy memories to keep her with us always.
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid." John 14:27
